Italian Tempura

I am Japanese so I wanted to cook something Japanese using Italian Sausage. I believe most of the people in the US love Tempura so came up with this recipe. I like this uniqueness and of course, taste.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 green peppers
  • 1/2 cup shredded Italian cheese
  • 4 Johnsonville Mild Italian Sausage Links
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup cold water
  • 1 egg
  • vegetable oil; for frying

DIRECTIONS

  • Cut each green pepper into 4. Remove stem and seeds.
  • Remove the sausage from their casings and crumble.
  • Fill 1-2 Tbsp. of shredded Italian cheese and then crumbled sausage into each green pepper.
  • Make tempura batter. In a bowl, beat egg and add cold water and flour. Mix well.
  • In a frying pan, heat the oil to 340° F.
  • Dip the stuffed green peppers in the tempura batter. Deep-fry them until crispy.
