Italian Pot Pie

The inside of this pie is a combination of crumbled Italian sausage, mixed vegetables, Alfredo sauce, and Mozzarella cheese. For the top, instead of a traditional pie crust, you have flaky cheesy bread sticks. This is super easy to prepare and makes a beautiful centerpiece at your dining table. Warm and comforting, a perfect family meal.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pkg. Johnsonville Mild Italian Sausage; crumbled
  • 11 oz. bread stick dough; refrigerated, ready-to-bake
  • 12 oz. mixed vegetables; frozen (I used green beans, carrots, corn, and pea mix)
  • 15 oz. Alfredo sauce (I used a light store bought sauce)
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese; shredded
  • 1/8 cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley flakes (optional garnish)

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat your oven to 375° F.
  • Cook sausage on stove top according to pkg. directions, adding your veggies and using a skillet that can transfer to the oven.
  • Once your sausage is completely cooked and veggies are hot, add Alfredo sauce, 1/2 of your shredded cheese and milk. Heat until hot and bubbly.
  • Stretch your dough to lay across the top of your skillet and create a lattice design (I did not weave the bread sticks). Top with the rest of your shredded cheese.
  • Move to center of oven and bake for 13 min. or until dough is cooked and golden brown. Serve hot; garnish with parsley on top (optional).
