Do I have to use Johnsonville Italian Sausage as one of the ingredients in my recipe?

Yes.

Can my recipe contain other proteins in addition to Johnsonville Italian Sausage?

Yes.

Can I take a recipe that I know by heart that uses ground beef or another protein besides sausage, substitute Johnsonville Italian Sausage, and submit it?

Yes.

Can I enter more than one recipe?

Absolutely. The more you enter, the better. You can create different variations of the same recipe or get creative and submit different and unique recipes.

Can I use a recipe that is already published in a book, magazine, website, etc.?

Your recipe submission must be original. Typically, the directions and not the ingredients list in published recipes are copywritten and thus cannot be submitted. Be sure to put your own spin onto any recipe by adding or subtracting ingredients and especially by writing original step–by–step instructions.

What if I take an already published recipe from a book, magazine, Web site, etc., that has sausage listed as an ingredient and change that to Johnsonville Italian Sausage. Does that make it unique enough that I can submit it into this contest?

No. See the explanation above. It's easy to make any recipe and make it original by giving it your own twists. Go for it and have fun!

How will the three winners be determined?

Entries will be judged by the following criteria:

  • Overall appeal and perceived taste of the recipe (33%)
  • Originality and presentation including optional uploaded photos and video (33%)
  • Ease of lay person in following steps described in the recipe (33%)

Six finalist recipes will then be professionally prepared and judged using the following criteria:

  • Visual appeal of the recipe (20%)
  • Ease of lay person in following steps described in the recipe (20%)
  • Taste (60%)

Do I have to upload recipe photos and/or a video?

No. Submitting one–to–three allowed photos and/or a video with your entry is not required but is encouraged, since these will enhance the visual appeal of the recipe, which is a judging criteria. And, we would love for visitors to the site to be able to see your creation and be enticed to make it and share it with their family!

Can I mention other brands in my recipe or show other logos in my photos or video?

No. Your recipe may not show any trademark or logo (other than Johnsonville Sausage, LLC trademarks) and may not violate or infringe on any copyrights, including music. For all the details, read the Official Rules.

I created and submitted my recipe, but it wasn't accepted. Why?

We reserve the right to reject any submission which we deem inappropriate or which does not comply with the Official Rules, such as the presence of other clearly visible brands/trademarks, the inclusion of a photo or video that you didn't shoot or music or sounds you didn't create. To modify a submission that has been denied, log into the site, click the My Recipes link at the top, edit the recipe and resubmit.
